“Let them eat paint!”

This piece is inspired by Wayne Thiebaud and my love for baking shows, especially in my childhood. Channeling my inner Cake Boss, I created 3D elements out of paint. I experimented with modeling paste mixed with acrylic paint to create a thicker medium to work with.

Strawberries, Chocolate, and Sprinkles (oh my!)

Much like chocolatiers, I spread my paint + modeling paste mixture across a sheet of parchment paper and then divided the wet paint into squares. Once it dried, I was left with a very realistic (but very inedible) chocolate bar. The process for making strawberries and sprinkles was pretty similar, I piped the desired shape onto a plastic bag and then peeled it off once dried.

“Don’t judge a piece by its color!”

I wanted to challenge myself with this piece by painting in opposite colors so that it looks like an odd color scheme to the naked eye, but when colors are reversed, it takes on more appealing and more “normal” colors for the scene.
